Insightful Women on Rewarding Failure to Reach Success

Great Leaders Reward Failure by Andrea Waltz

As leaders, we all run over to congratulate people for the big sales they make, but when was the last time you ran over to congratulate someone for getting a series of no’s from a customer or prospect, maybe even coming away from the interaction empty handed?  Many leaders think their job is to help people to succeed more, and while that is certainly the long-term result we want, the truth is that great managers challenge their people to fail more often. Not to become “failures” per se, but to increase their rate of failure… and in the process increase their ultimate rate of success.  Great managers make failing and getting rejected not only a normal part of the job, but fun. Rather than punishing it, they find ways to reward it!
