Rave Reviews: “Elaine’s workshop on caregiving was one of the most helpful and informative workshops we have ever offered. The day was well balanced with information, discussion, and humor, and there was often reassurance through stories Elaine told from her book, Letters from Madelyn – Chronicles of a Caregiver. Elaine knows what she is talking about, but it is her style that really opened up the students to the topic. She is not only warm and engaging, she has a wonderful sense of humor and perspective. Alan Koch, Coordinator, Lifelong Learning Institute Chemeketa Community College

Elaine K. Sanchez is a speaker and author who never intended to become an expert in the area of caring for aging, chronically ill, and disabled family members. She grew up on a Kansas dairy farm, and worked as an advertising sales manager for NBC, CBS, and Univision television affiliates in Colorado and New Mexico. She has served on numerous nonprofit and professional boards, including the Marketing Advisory Group for the NBC television network. In 1998 she left the broadcast industry to pursue her long-time ambition to become a writer. During the years Elaine cared for her own aging parents, she was frustrated by the distance that separated them, the conflicting personal and professional demands for her time, and her lack of knowledge about where to go and how to get help. A few years later, as she stood next to her elderly aunt in the emergency room following an accident, she became acutely aware of how important it is to be knowledgeable about the physical, financial, and legal affairs of loved ones who suddenly find themselves in a position where they cannot care for themselves. Elaine is a professional member of the National Speakers Association. She has published three books and numerous newspaper and magazine articles. She lives in Salem, Oregon with her husband Alex, a professor at Oregon State University. Together they have eight children and eight grandchildren.
